The department acknowledges the importance of employing a diverse and culturally competent workforce, both at the central office and Regional MH/ID Board level. Therefore, we sponsor and coordinate cultural diversity and competence training.
Our major challenge is to move beyond simply providing cultural diversity training to the development of a truly culturally competent staff. Hence, our curriculum provides both an informational track for all staff and "training of trainers" for designated staff.
