On March 6, 2020, the Governor issued Executive Order 2020-215, declaring a state of emergency pursuant to his power under the Kentucky Constitution and KRS Chapter 39A regarding COVID-19, a mild to severe respiratory disease that can result in death.

In recognition of that order and with the number of COVID-19 cases expected to increase, we are taking necessary steps to protect the health of our fellow Kentuckians by engaging in "social distancing" and limiting person-to-person contact in the workplace.

As a result, the PRI Driving Unimpaired 20-Hour New Instructor Certification Training scheduled for October 14–16, 2020, and the KY DUI Assessment Instrument Training scheduled for November 17–19, 2020, are canceled. All who have registered will be moved to the next scheduled training sessions, which will be held in 2021. Registrants will be notified when the dates are determined.

If you have questions, please contact Rae Williams at rae.williams@ky.gov.

Kentucky Revised Statute 189A.040(5) requires all DUI services to be received in an alcohol or substance abuse education or treatment program or facility that is licensed, regulated, and monitored by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Therefore, Kentucky will not accept online DUI course completions. Access the Provider Directory link in Related Links to identify the licensed, state-certified DUI provider(s) in your county.

Program Description

The Driving Under the Influence Program is responsible for monitoring and regulating the statewide network of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) programs that are licensed and certified to provide alcohol and other drug assessments, education and treatment services to persons convicted of DUI.

The program operates under the authority of administrative regulation 908 KAR 1:310, in accordance with the provisions of Kentucky Revised Statute 189A00 (see Related Links).
