The Division of Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DDID) recognizes the importance of training as a direct indicator of quality for those entrusted with supporting individuals who have mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. The division has Education and Resource Development professionals who provide training, mentoring and statewide resource development to self-advocates, family members and providers.

All education, training and resources offered by the DDID are values-based and grounded in current best practices. You can access information about training dates and topics through the Training Calendar link in the Related Links box. The Training Descriptions link provides descriptions of training and modules we offer.

DDID Education and Resource Development professionals also offer mentoring services. Mentoring is an on-the-job educational process that provides opportunities for professional development, growth and support for both the mentor and the trainee involved. Our goal is to help build educational capacity within agencies while assisting providers and stakeholders with the expansion and development of their local and regional educational resources. Please contact us for further information regarding mentoring services.

The DDID Education and Resource Development team has joined TRAIN Kentucky (TrainingFinder Real-Time Affiliate Integrated Network). TRAIN is a learning management system currently used by the Department of Public Health. All registration for DDID training is handled through this system.

You can access the TRAIN Kentucky website (see Related Links) to establish an individual staff account that requires name, email address, address, job role and additional professional information. If you need assistance, use the information in the Contact Information box above.
