The Community Support Branch provides support, monitoring, and oversight of a variety of functions within the Division of Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DDID). It provides staff support, technical assistance, and monitoring of 14 Regional Community Mental Health/Mental Retardation Centers (CMHCs). DDID Regional Liaisons work with CMHCs to assist persons with disabilities and their families in locating resources and supports. CMHCs provide services such as support coordination, community habilitation, prevocational services, supported employment, and respite. Services vary by region.
Crisis Prevention and Response System forAdults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities
Each Regional Mental Health and Mental Retardation Board in Kentucky shall implement a Crisis Prevention and Response System in order to develop system capacity to establish increased, effective behavior support services, and to strengthen provider capacity to identify, prevent, and/or minimize emergent crises.
An individual "in crisis" is considered to be at risk of exhausting currently existing community-based supports that are available through the contractual arrangement with the Cabinet, appropriated crisis funds and/or supports through the SCL waiver. These crisis supports are extraordinary supports, in that other supports have been attempted and/or exhausted prior to referral. If, during the course of triage or provision of crisis supports, it is determined that all existing resources have not been attempted and/or exhausted, then supports to stabilize the situation shall be provided until resources can be accessed. This includes assistance from the Division of Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.

- Training and Education Resources. The division offers a host of vibrant and informational training events. Training participants have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the ideas and principles of Best Practices, sharpen current professional and personal skills, and network to keep abreast of ongoing developments within the field. Training Coordinators provide continuing education and support for resource development to ensure delivery of the finest supports for all Kentuckians.
