Sponsored by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Department for Behavioral Health Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities and Eastern Kentucky University, the Kentucky School provides a quality learning opportunity for professionals working in alcohol and drug treatment, prevention, mental health and other disciplines.
Last year’s event yielded record attendance of more than 700 participants and top-notch speakers. Here are a few comments from past participants:
- "There were a wide variety of topics from which to choose.”
- "Registration was easy; it was a good venue, and there were really great trainers.”
- "There was lots of great information for people starting in the field.”
For 2016, the venue will be The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville, near the Louisville International Airport. An opening “Grassroots” plenary session with light refreshments is set for Sunday afternoon, July 17, starting at 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Wednesday will feature 8:30 a.m. plenary sessions followed by five-hour workshops beginning at 10:30 a.m. Thursday's start time is 9:00 a.m. with multiple half-day offerings and several six-hour workshops. The conference ends on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
The Kentucky School will have an exhibit hall and many special peer group meetings and events from which to choose. Tuesday evening will feature an appreciation and awards banquet.
As in the past, we will offer continuing education hours, nursing contact hours and other professional credit hours for attendees. Scholarships will be available for a limited number of participants.
